What is DropToMe?

DropToMe is a social utility that allows you to share your interests with a drag and a drop. You can view lists of things that your friends like, discover new things that you’ll love through our amazing algorithm, and meet new people who like what you like. The site makes it easy for you to rank, share, and discover products, and it all starts with creating a list of products that you like.

Can anyone join?

Anyone over the age of 13 is more than welcome to join DropToMe!

How much does it cost to sign up?

Absolutely nothing! DropToMe does not charge its users for access to the website.

Do you give out or sell my e-mail address or personal information?

No. DropToMe hates spam just as much as you do, and we're not going to give away or sell any personally identifying information. You can check our Privacy Policy for more details.

How do I get started?

Signing up is easy. Once you’ve filled in the appropriate fields you’ll be taken to your new home page. From there you can start searching for products to add to your list, browse the top products according to users on the site, or find friends to add to your network. Adding products or friends to your list is easy: just drag the item over to your Drop Box and let it go!

How do I find products?

The search box is found at the top of every page. Select a product category from the drop down menu, type in the product that you're looking for, and hit your enter key. You'll be taken to a new page with the results of your search. When you find the product you are looking for, drag it over to your Drop Box and let it go!

How do I find friends?

Finding friends is easy. First, click on the “My Friends” icon. Then, under the heading “Find friends I know” type the person's name, e-mail address, or part of either one, in the search box and hit your enter key. Your results will appear just below the search box!

How do I add a friend?

Once you have found your friend, just drag them over to your Drop Box and let them go. A request will be sent to your friend and they will appear in your friends list as soon as they accept it. You can do this for friends found through the search engine or for people you see on other profile pages!

How do I rank products?

To rank a product on your "Drop Box" page just star it, drag it, and you're done. Here are some more details for you:

To start the process, rate a product by clicking the appropriate star. The more stars, the more you like the product. After that a small window containing some of your similarly starred products may appear on your screen. Arrange those in the order you like, from best to worst, by dragging them around in the list. When you like the order of the products, hit the "Save & Continue" button.

How do I attach messages to my drops?

You can attach messages to your drops, letting you tell your friend why you dropped them that movie, or leave yourself a reminder as to why you added that book to your Drop Box.

On the right-hand side of the page, just above the Drop Box, is a check-box with an envelope icon next to it. If you check the box, you will be able to attach a message to anything you drop in your Drop Box, even friends! After dropping the item a small window will appear. Just type your message, hit “Save and continue,” and you’re done!

How do I add a comment to a product on my profile page?

Every product box in your Drop Box and on your Profile page has a small icon in its bottom-left corner. Clicking on this icon brings up a small window that lets you write a comment or review that everyone in your network can read!

How do I introduce my friends to each other?

Introducing people is as easy as dropping products to your friends! Select your first friend from the drop-down menu above your Drop Box. Then drag your second friend over to the Drop Box and let them go. You can even attach a message when you make the introduction just like you attach a message to product drops!

What if I have a question or a problem that isn't addressed here?

This is the beta version of DropToMe and despite our great programmers there are bound to be a few hiccups and bugs along the way. If you've found a bug or even have a feature request, head over here and let us know!
